Transitlounge at Transmediale entry on petehindle.textdriven
Last year I participated in transitlounge, a self-funded residency in Berlin. I was/am interested in the concept of a fishboy, someone who is into fish on multiple levels, aesthetically, gastronomically, philosophically. It is part of an ongoing idea.
Transitlounge has now moved on, evolving into a residency space for Australian and German artists and architects. At one of the forums at Transmediale, Curators Miriam Mlecek and Katie Hepworth will show selected works from the transit lounge 2006 and discuss their work.
salon, Wed 31st Jan 2pm.

The purpose of this site is to explore transitions, not only those created by travel, or borders, but the whole wealth of transformations, physical, psychological, philosophical that are occurring. I admit that the name is close to transitlounge, a residency participated in last year in Berlin(2006). However, I believe that this field has space for two separate entities exploring overlapping themes. Plus, coming from the science background, labs have always been exciting places, thus I wanted lab as part of my domain. One transition I am particularly interested in at the moment is that of the art/science/technology divide. About whether it is getting bigger, or smaller, or whether they are starting to stitch back together through strong collaborations and partnerships.

In a few days I go to one of my favourite cities, Berlin. For the first time i go as part of a group. The last four times I have come in alone, though the first time my friend Pix did meet me at the airport. That was very kind of him.
Another difference is that this trip to Berlin to see the medi festival Transmediale is part funded by the Arts Council of England. Anyway i will be posting thoughts and sights at our groups transmediale blog. I have also registered transitlab.org where i will be posting on the topic of transitions.
